What Is The Difference Between American Express & Virtuoso?

What Is The Difference Between American Express & Virtuoso?

Hi, my name is Jacque Salentine-Busby and I’m the owner of Salentine Travel and we’ve been in business since 1983.  I have something I’d like to share with you today.

Seven years ago, I was in an American Express rep firm and as you know, I’ve been in the business a really long time and I just thought it was the best!  Well, that was until I met a Virtuoso travel agent on one of my trips and I saw at every product call, all the premier hotels were coming in to pick up her and have lunch with the general manager and as it turns out when we were in Saint-Bard, my husband looked at me and he goes, “Jacque, whatever money per year, what does American Express doing for you?”  And I couldn’t find an answer!  Because especially luxury travel, Virtuoso is the preferred partner with all the hotels, the cruise lines, our onsite—we have over 85 airline contracts.  We are one stop shopping, so why don’t you give our agency a call and find out what we can do for you.  At Salentine Travel, we’d like to invite you to live well and travel more and give us a try!

What Are Some Real Life Travel Examples Of Why I Should Use A Travel Agent?

What Are Some Real Life Travel Examples Of Why I Should Use A Travel Agent?

Hi, my name is Jacque Salentine-Busby and I’m the owner of Salentine Travel.  Salentine Travel has been in business since 1983 and we’ve got some very funny stories to share with you.

Now for half of you, it may not be so funny, so I’d like to share with you a couple of these at this time.  So you’d Googled Mexico vacation and 18 million searches come up.  Maybe you could call a good travel agent to help you decipher through all of that myriad of the information.

Remember, when you use that obscure website to book that hotel and you spent your beach vacation overlooking a parking lot.  Have you ever found that what you saw online wasn’t really true to life?  I think we’ve all experienced that and through our own travel and the giant network we have with all of our reps, we can help bring some of that risk down for you because we understand that your vacation is so important.  It’s the most important week or weeks of your life.

Have you ever really meant to spend your honeymoon in a tiny pool with wild screaming children?  We all know how that’s like to.  No one explained to you that in July, it’s winter in Rio and you brought your five Hawaiian tops and matching pedal pushers.  That didn’t really work out either and you had to go shopping.  These things happen!

Another thing that happens is missed billing and I don’t think you really want to contact the Attorney General.  Sometimes, you’re billed once, sometimes you’re billed three or four times.  Well who do you complain to?  When no one really cares and there’s no phone number on that website?  So I’d like to remind you to book with a travel agent especially Salentine Travel, we have been in business a long time and we know what we’re doing and we would like to invite you to live well and travel more.

How Do I know if my Travel Agent is Well Trained?

Hi, my name is Jacque Salentine-Busby and I’m the owner of Salentine Travel and we’ve been in business since 1983 and one question you may ask yourself is how do I know if my travel agent is well trained?

Well, I can only speak for Salentine Travel and about seven years ago, we joined a network called Virtuoso which is a luxury travel consortia and prior to that, we were an American Express rep company and since we’ve been a member of Virtuoso, the training programs that they provide for our travel agents are second to none.  They are unbelievable.

For instance, we’ll do safaris one day, we’ll do Australia the next day, so they are doing two or three webinars a week and because we’re located in Milwaukee and so well known, so almost any vendor that comes to Milwaukee comes into my office and we see three to four or sometimes five reps a week, they all want to come to our office and they do private trainings for my agents and my agents just love it and that way, they get to build those special relationships so when you need that extra special daylight, can they get adjoining rooms or I really want to have this specific room category or room for my honeymoon or the special, special trip.  We’ve got those relationships and we also have a directory of all the general managers with the hotels.

So getting all of these additional training and building those relationships, we’ve got it all—all related to one stop shopping at Salentine Travel, I’d like to invite you to live well, travel more and enjoy life.

Do Travel Agents Still Exist Any More and Why Use a Good Travel Agent?

Hi, my name is Jacque Salentine-Busby and I own Salentine Travel and we have been in business since 1983 and it always kind of surprises me when people say, “Do travel agents even exist anymore?”  Well, the good news is that travel agents do exist, we are here to stay.  The good ones have survived and things are even better.  2010 is really great for us!

So another question people have is, “With the advent of the internet, who uses a travel agent anyway?”  Well, let me share some statistics with you.  Eighty seven percent of all cruises are booked with a travel agent, 81% of all tours and packages are booked with a travel agent.  You may be surprised to find out that over half of the airline tickets are still booked through the travel agent and yes, hotel stays—nearly half of those, 50% are still booked with a travel agent, so at Salentine Travel, we would like to invite you to live well and travel more!   1-800-962-8747

How Do Travel Agents Make Their Money?

Hi, my name is Jacque Salentine-Busby and I’m the owner of Salentine Travel.  Salentine Travel has been in business since 1983 and one of the most commonly asked questions we get that we still get today is how do travel agents make their money and especially because they know that the airlines don’t pay commission anymore, boy those were the days, so how do we make our money?

They always think that they take extra for using a travel agent and that is not necessarily true.  Now when someone books a cruise and we book 87% of all cruises, you don’t pay an extra fee at all, so you have like a personal shopper and there’s no service fee, so the only time you would pay a service fee is when you just book an airline ticket and we’ve got our own online booking engine so if you’re a corporate account, that fee is only $9.00 and if you’re an individual traveler, getting the full customer service from one of our agents, that fee is $30.00.

So the way travel agents make their money is the cruise lines, the hotels, car rental companies—they pay us a commission based on our service.  One time, recently a friend said to me, “Well, Jacque, you know I’m really busy and I just want to get this done and I’m happy to pay the commission.”  Wrong!  You don’t pay our commission.  Our commission is paid by our vendors and I wanted to share that information with you so you really understand because it can be confusing, so don’t be afraid to call a travel agent and at Salentine Travel, we would like to invite you to live well and travel more and give us a call!      1-800-962-8747

Next is a testimonial from a favorite client who has been taking her family to Iberostar Resorts for years and traveling with Salentine Travel for even longer:)

Hi Jamie,

We were thrilled with your recommendation of the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall Hotel. It was conveniently located near the Montego Bay airport, and had a spectacular beach location and view. The rooms were magnificent, with lots of marble, huge bathrooms, and unbelievable lanais! And, each floor had butler service and a very accommodating concierge service. It really was the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at, including Ritz Carltons.

The food was excellent, with both an elegant buffet, as well as several very nice specialty restaurants. We tried them all and loved each one! The other amenities were terrific also, from the Vegas-quality shows, to the lovely pool/beach area, and especially the premier class spa. I just cannot say enough about how wonderful this hotel was! And, we were delighted to learn that our package included two rounds of golf at a picturesque nearby course, so my husband and two sons really enjoyed that too.

Please make sure you recommend this package to other clients, as I know they will provide positive feedback, and will be as happy with Salentine Travel and Funjet as we are!

Celeste from Mequon
